I made my decision to be childfree when I was around 20 years old

I decided not to have kids because of my own beliefs. It's a personal choice that didn't happen overnight. it came about gradually as I became more aware of the need for this choice. It's not a desire to be different, as some might think. I made my decision to be childfree when I was around 20 years old.
I decided not to have kids because of a few reasons. I remember that I had to take care of a relative's small child, and honestly, I didn't enjoy the experience too much. I realized it wasn't right for me at that time. Another factor was understanding that having a child is a big responsibility and needs financial stability. It doesn't mean I only wanted to spend money on myself, but I knew I wouldn't have enough income soon to provide a comfortable life for my future family and give my child or children, a carefree childhood with some material joys.
Sharing my decision about not having kids wasn't easy for my family. Some relatives were understanding, but some reacted really bad, even criticizing and trying to teach me about what's right. It wasn't always older people doing this; some my age thought their views were the only correct ones. Thankfully, over time, the tension eased, and my family seems to have accepted my choice.
I don't force my views on others, not because I'm afraid of criticism - I'm not. In the beginning, some family members tried hard to change my mind, but it settled down over time. Nowadays, some friends may subtly suggest that I'll change my mind, but it's not frequent. The only thing that bothers me is that people often see the childfree choice as something for teenagers or immature individuals who haven't grown up. Ironically, some who emphasize traditional values act worse than children, risking not forming themselves as individuals. However, that's their choice. As long as it doesn't disrupt others' lives, everyone has their own definition of what's normal.
